See it in your room: 3D and AR product viewers for your website

“Will it fit? Will it go with the sofa? Is it bigger than it looks in the photo?”

When people shop online for something they’ll live with, those doubts stop a lot of them from buying. Photos only go so far.

A 3D and AR product viewer answers those questions on your own website. Customers can spin the product around and zoom in on the details. Then, on their phone, they tap View in your room, point the camera at the floor or wall, and see the product there, at its real size.

There’s no app to download. It works in the phone’s normal web browser.

Try it now

Pick a product, spin it around, try the different colours, TV sizes or wallpapers, and if you’re on a phone, tap View in your room (or View on your wall for the wallpaper) to see it in your own space at real size.

Drag to spin, pinch or scroll to zoom. On a phone, tap View in your room.

How it works for your customer

  1. They spin it. On your product page, the product appears in 3D instead of, or alongside, your photos. They drag to turn it and pinch to zoom.
  2. They tap “View in your room”. On a phone, this opens the camera.
  3. They place it. The product appears in their room at true size. They can walk around it, move it and turn it.

It works on most modern phones: iPhones use Apple’s built-in AR viewer, and Android phones use Google’s. On a computer, customers still get the 3D view to spin and zoom.

Who it suits

It’s most useful for products where size, shape or look really matters, and where people usually want to see it before buying:

  • Furniture and lighting: sofas, chairs, tables, lamps.
  • Home and garden: planters, garden furniture, sheds and garden rooms.
  • Art and decor: prints, mirrors and wall art, shown at real size on the wall.
  • Paint and wallpaper: a true-size sample of a pattern or colour, right on the customer’s own wall.
  • Made-to-order products: let customers see their choice of colour or finish.
  • Bigger items for showrooms and trade counters: machinery, kiosks and display stands that customers can’t easily come and see.

Why it’s worth it

  • More confidence to buy. Seeing a product in their own space answers the “will it fit?” question that stops so many sales.
  • Fewer returns. When customers know what they’re getting, fewer things come back because they were bigger, smaller or different than expected.
  • You stand out. Most small shops still only have photos. A “View in your room” button makes you look like one of the big names.
  • It’s shareable. Customers can send the link to a partner or friend, who sees the same 3D product on their own phone.

What you need to get started

The main ingredient is a 3D model of each product. There are a few ways to get one:

  • From your supplier or manufacturer. Many already have 3D files from the design process.
  • From photos. For many objects, a model can be made from a set of photos taken all the way round the product.
  • Built from scratch. For simple shapes, or for products that come in lots of options, a model can be built to your measurements.

You don’t need to do it for everything. Start with your best sellers, or the products people ask the most questions about, and see what difference it makes.

Will it work on my website?

In most cases, yes. The viewer is added to your existing product pages, whether your site is custom-built, WordPress or another platform. Your customers don’t need to install anything, and your pages stay fast because the 3D model only loads when it’s needed.

Want to see it on your products?

A 3D & AR Product Viewer adds this to one of your product pages, and I can do the same for a whole range as part of my VR & 3D work. If you’d like to see what your products would look like, send me a message and tell me what you sell.
